Mrs. Valerie Bires is the principal of Floyd M. Stork Elementary School.
Ms. Bires holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Point Loma University in San Diego. She was hired by the Monrovia Unified School District as a teacher in 1993. For the next 10 years, she taught all grade levels between 1st and 5th grades at Bradoaks Elementary School.
Ms. Bires' approachability and dedication to the education of her students garnered her the respect and admiration of her students, parents, and peers. She was known for dedicating her off hours and weekends to her classroom and students' needs. While she continued her own education, she became the assistant principal at Bradoaks. Under the mentoring of two principals and Superintendent Louise Taylor, she flourished as a solid leader and committed educator.
After obtaining her Master's Degree, Mrs. Bires became the principal of her school in 2006. Under Mrs. Bires' leadership, the school obtained its 2nd California Distinguished School Award. To her credit, Bradoaks Elementary School is one of a few public schools where students who previously attended private schools came to excel in their learning.
To expand her knowledge and experience new challenges, Mrs. Bires was hired by the Alta Loma School District in June of 2014 and was carefully selected to lead the dedicated team at Hermosa Elementary School. After 8 years of leading the Hermosa "Huskies," she was selected in June of 2022 to become the principal at Stork Elementary.
Mrs. Bires is motivated and excited to work with the staff and parents of Stork Elementary and looks forward to caring for awesome students!
